Consumer Information Center - Food and Nutrition Publications
U.S. government food and nutrition publications - dietary guidelines, supplements, the food guide pyramid, and making healthy food choices.

Interactive Healthy Eating Index
A new web site from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, that offers users information on measuring their eating habits against current dietary guidelines. Foods are analyzed and rated according to their nutritional content. Includes recipes and tips for healthy, thrifty meals.

Food and Nutrition Information Center
One of several information centers at the National Agricultural Library, part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. One of the links on their FNIC Resource Lists provides guidance on how to understand and use the nutrition facts panel on food labels.

Nutrient Database (USDA)
A searchable database of nutrient values for over 6839 foods. If you want to view reports on foods by single nutrients, check the Nutrient Lists.

NutritionData Use NutritionData's Nutrition Facts Analyzer to generate nutrition fact labels and provide simplified nutritional analyses from their 6,742 food database. Learn what's good and bad about the foods you eat in order to select foods that best meet your dietary needs.

"Gateway to government food safety information." News and safety alerts, consumer advice, reporting illnesses & product complaints, federal and state government agencies, plus links to National Food Safety Complaint Initiative and Food Hotlines.
