Mythology

The Encyclopedia Mythica
A gold mine of information about myths, legends, folklore; legendary monsters and creatures. Take a look at the Site Map to see the amazing variety of information here, and don't miss the Genealogy Tables, completed for Greek, Norse, and Japanese mythology.

Myths and Legends
A vast and varied collection of links.

Mythweb
A spritely look at the Greek gods, heroes, and monsters for young people. There's an encyclopedia for looking up everybody from Achilles to Zeus, illustrated stories of the heroes, and a section on why the ancient myths are relevant today. Includes resources for teachers.

Folklore and Mythology Electronic Texts
A plain, but extremely useful site with the text of many myths and legends organized alphabetically by motif (animals in exile, hog bridegrooms), place of origin, kind (fairy tales), or author (Hans Christian Anderson, the Grimm brothers). There are some unique and fascinating links here.

Bulfinch's Mythology
The text of Thomas Bulfinch's Mythology (including the Age of Fable, Age of Chivalry, and Age of Charlemagne); but that's only the beginning. Lots of background information and links to explore, including some that are just for fun.
